By Any Means Necessary

Unless you live in a cave, you must be aware by now, that President Trump’s political opponents are trying to take him down, by any means necessary. It started during the 2016 campaign when he was ridiculed and attacked by the Washington D.C. political elite of both parties, the mainstream media and the career appointees of the Department of Justice of which the FBI is a part.

There was the fake news in the media based on unverified anonymous sources, the fake Steele Russia Dossier that was paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign and facilitated by D.O.J. and F.B.I. officials, and the purportedly fake Affidavit which relied on the dossier that was submitted to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, leading to the Electronic Surveillance Warrant the F.B.I. used to spy on Trump’s campaign.

The lawless and unethical behavior of his opponents, as disgusting and disgraceful as it is, now represents the new normal in American Politics. But the American people saw through the smokescreen and Donald J. Trump was duly elected to be our 45th President.

He was elected, in part, because he received an early, full-throated endorsement from the National Rifle Association. One of his campaign promises was to protect the Second Amendment. In fact, the day after retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens published an Op-Ed article in the New York Times which advocated for the repeal of the Second Amendment, President Trump tweeted this:

“THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!

5:52 AM – Mar 28, 2018”

Senator Schumer, the Democrat Minority Leader, was quick to contact the New York Times in response to the President’s tweet. According to the Times, Schumer is quoted as saying,

“It is unequivocally not the Democratic caucus’ position to repeal the Second Amendment. The choice is not between gun rights and no gun rights. Reasonable proposals that adhere to the Second Amendment but improve gun safety such as universal background checks, protective orders and a debate on the assault weapons ban are the way of the future.”

I, for one, do not believe Senator Schumer, or any Democrat for that matter, when they talk “reasonable proposals” for gun control legislation. They say one thing to get elected and do quite another during their term in office. Surely, the good Senator from New York, must know that the President of the United States has no constitutional role in the amendment process.

The power to amend the Constitution resides with Congress or an Article V Convention of States. Elected Officials of either the Senate or the House of Representatives may propose a Joint Resolution to repeal the Second Amendment. It must pass in each house with a two-thirds vote which must then be ratified by at least 38 State Legislatures in the ensuing 7 years to complete the process.

Twenty five years ago Representative Major Owens, a Democrat from New York City, introduced such a resolution, H.J. Res. 81. Thankfully, it died in Committee. Since then, the Democrats have cautiously been dreaming of the day when they have the votes in Congress and the mood of the country signals it might be ready for the nuclear option of repeal!

Accordingly, this makes the 2018 mid-term elections critical to our cause. Before you cast your vote, you must know the stance of your candidate on the Second Amendment. He or she might be the vote in Congress that makes a Repeal Amendment a possibility.

And in recent days, Representatives Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, both Democrats from California, have begun their new “Throw the Bums Out” public relations campaign. In an effort to wrest control of Congress away from Republicans, they are encouraging voters across the country to vote against any Republican or Independent who supports the President or his policies, which would include those candidates who support the Second Amendment.

Think about that for a moment. Elected Officials who are Democrats are more concerned about winning seats in Congress than protecting the Second Amendment. Resistance in any form and, by any means necessary, is more important to the Democrats than our civil rights!

And they are not alone in this regard. Just yesterday, New York Times opinion columnist Thomas L. Friedman, published an Op-Ed article entitled: Sounding Code Red: Electing the Trump Resistance. Marching in lockstep with the Democrats, Friedman advocates that everyone should vote against President Trump. We should disregard the policies involved —“policies like gun control, right to choose, free trade or fiscal discipline.” Apparently, those issues are unimportant to him or the Country. But, as far as Friedman is concerned, “… that’s the only choice on the ballot. It’s a choice between letting Trump retain control of all the key levers of political power for two more years, or not.”

As a favor to our readers, I will spare you with the additional nauseating content of his essay. He concludes with this gem: “So that’s why I have only one thought for this election: Get power. Get a lever of power that can curb Trump.” If you read between the lines, Friedman is telling us to vote for a Democrat, any Democrat, and to hell with the consequences.

Here is more proof that the Second Amendment has become a political football among Democrats. In Maine, where gun violence is virtually non-existent, Democrats fought with each other over putting gun control in their state party platform. According to news reports published in the Bangor Daily News, the most progressive delegates, including all gubernatorial candidates from Maine’s First Congressional District, which includes the city of Portland, wanted to include a ban on “military style assault weapons”. Rural Democrats however, from the Second Congressional District, balked at this idea after a speech given by former State Senator John Patrick. Reportedly, he said that as he went door to door campaigning, voters wanted to know where he stood on the Second Amendment. In his speech he said that Democrats need to win the Governor’s Office and Legislative majorities if you want to change gun laws. He also warned that if you want to un-elect rural Democrats, pass gun control legislation.

Surprisingly, the measure to include gun control legislation in the party platform failed overwhelmingly. Ethan Strimling, the Mayor of Portland, tweeted that, “the vote was “so disappointing.” It’s an example of an urban-rural divide in the state and party.”

It is also an blatant example of deceit that we have come to expect from the Democrats who will try to get elected, by any means necessary, and then do what they couldn’t say during their campaign. In other words, you can’t ban guns if you don’t get elected, so let’s pretend to support the Second Amendment. If you are a Democrat and own firearms, beware, your party will betray you. This is not about you. It’s about the character of those who get elected as Democrats and break their solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution. They will not hesitate to trade your God-given rights for political power.

So, while it seems like we are winning the battle in the Federal Courts, we may be losing the war in the Court of Public Opinion. The mood of the country is changing and the apparatuses and resources for repeal are already in place. We must recognize the danger and redouble our efforts to win the hearts and minds of the American public. If we lose the Second Amendment, others are sure to fall. When they do, tyranny will have a death grip on our republic and everyone will be wishing that our guns had not been confiscated.

It matters not if we lose the protections afforded by the Second Amendment due to its repeal or it dies a torturous death by 1,000 cuts; dead is dead. Then, it is just a matter of time until tyrannical politicians at every level of government smother us with a heavy blanket of so-called common sense gun control laws and America looks like Great Britain, Australia or worse.

The media is merely an echo chamber for the corrupt, left-leaning political class and the Hollywood elites, all of whom think they are smarter than us. They desire to transform our republic into a socialistic state that would be the envy of all Europeans. If we fail to protect the rights of those who are being vilified, eventually, all of us will be vilified.

It is our duty to protect our republic, one Constitutional right at a time, because the stakes are too high to fail. Let this be your call to action. Join the Liberty First Foundation in fighting for our freedoms at your polling place this November. Sitting this one out is not an option!

How far would you go to remain free from Tyranny? We must defend the Second Amendment, by any means necessary.

Could you please correct where you kept calling our form of government a democracy. We are a republic, it’s important to know the difference and to ensure others do as well. Otherwise,I agree whole heartely with this piece. I have become somewhat of a one issue voter. I can bend a little here and there, but I will not budge one inch on the second amendment. It’s good to know others are doing the same.
