As a gun owner, it’s a good idea to have not only your everyday carry (EDC) gun but some secondary defensive measures as well. The old saying “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail” comes into play when all you have or know is your gun.
We spend thousands of dollars on ammunition, accessories, tactical gear, range time, and firearms. We spend countless hours refining our skills, doing our best to punch the X in the center of our targets.
It was late December 1971, and tensions in the city were high. While everyone was used to a certain level of crime being perpetrated throughout the 5 boroughs, one rash of incidents had many on edge.
This past Saturday I had the opportunity to participate in an Urban Rifle training course offered by Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department up here in Maine.
As humans, we are not equipped with razor-sharp talons or long teeth so we are not effective predators and in our early history, we were often the prey of creatures that were better equipped for the task of killing their food.
